What experience levels are welcome?
All levels! With the exception of some special workshops, all 8-week and one-time classes are designed to accommodate all skill levels.
Is Rosa Pottery ADA accessible?
Yes! We have ADA accessible parking, first floor entrances, and restrooms. Accommodations can be made in most classes. Please contact us before signing up if you have concerns- info@rosapottery.studio.
If I’m new to clay, can I try it out before signing up?
If you’re hesitant about signing up for a full 8-week class or membership, we recommend that you take a one-time class to get a feel for the studio and pottery itself.
Does Rosa Pottery offer education in wheel-throwing, hand-building, or both?
EVERYTHING! 8-week classes include instruction in both wheel-throwing and hand-building. One-time classes and workshops only provide instruction on their specified topic.
What is your pricing?

Do you have any employment availability?

Do you offer classes for kids?
Rosa Pottery is primarily an adults only studio. Humans who are 16+ are welcome in one-time classes. Only those 18+ are allowed in all other classes/memberships.
Can I drop in at Rosa Pottery?
We do not offer drop-in options at this time.
Do you offer kiln firings for non-members?
Rosa Pottery is not able to offer firing to the public. Sometimes Sunset Canyon Pottery (sunsetcanyonpottery.com) and Feats of Clay (https://featsofclaypottery.com/) offer public firing services. You can also search kilnshare.com for kiln access near you.
How does registration work for your 8-week classes?
8-week registration happens in stages. Current students get first dibs to resign-up for their current class. Returning students not registered for the current session get second dibs. Early notification list gets third dibs. Whatever spots are left are posted online and are first-come, first served. Can I rent wheel time?
Studio access is restricted to students and members. We do not rent out our equipment or take reservations for specific machines.
How many open class spots do you have for each 8-weeks registration?
This varies greatly from session to session. See how registration works for details.
How many open studio hours come with a class?
8-Week classes include one open studio session per week, up to five hours in one continuous session, up to 8 visits per session. Members have unlimited access during designated open studio hours.
Do you have a waitlist?
One-time classes and workshops are first-come, first-served. 8-week classes’ registration runs in stages and has no waitlist, see that question for details. Open Studio Membership spots are limited and so have a waitlist.
What is an Open Studio Membership?
Open Studio Members have unlimited access to the studio during open studio hours. They will have access to studio equipment and tools during that time. There are options to have clay/firing included or not. For those who choose to bring in their own cone 05/06 or cone 5/6 clay, their firing cost is $15/25lb bag of clay. Given that open studio does not include instruction and minimal supervision, open studio members are required to have more than a year of clay experience. They are also required to interview with Hillary before their membership is approved.
How do I get an Open Studio Membership?
Open Studio Memberships is only open to those who have more than a year of clay experience. All potential members are required to submit an application and interview with Hillary. Limited availability, previous students of the studio have priority. See Members page for details.
What is included in the 8-week class fee?
The 8-week class fee includes priority studio access during their class day/time, three hours of professional instruction a week, one open studio session per week, and all clay/glaze/firing used during your time at the studio.
What is the open studio access add-on?
Some students want more studio time. 8-week students can pay this reduced open studio membership fee to have unlimited open studio access. Studio clay and its firing is included.
What cone do you fire to and what kind of kilns do you have?
We currently utilize electric kilns and fire to cone 6.
What should I wear in the studio?
Pottery making is very messy! Wear something comfortable that you are ok with getting dirt on. Closed toed shoes are preferred. Shoes must remain on while at the studio. Long hair should be tied back and jewelry should be removed before throwing. Our studio clay is white, doesn’t stain, and will wash off. We do not provide aprons, you must bring your own if you want one.
Is my pottery food safe?
All clay and glazes provided by the studio are food safe.
How do I clean my pottery?
All clay and glazes provided by the studio are microwave and dishwasher safe. Handwashing is recommended, though not required, for fragile pieces.
If I miss a class, can I make it up?
There are no makeups of missed one-time classes or workshops.
Students in 8-week classes will be allowed to makeup up to 2 classes per session, by 1) letting the studio know via email before your missed class begins that you’re going to be absent and 2) coming in for an extra open studio session at your convenience. Missed instruction cannot be made up, but this allows students to at least get their time in the studio.
Do I bring my own tools?
The studio will provide everything you need for one-time classes. It is highly recommended that 8-week students and studio members bring their own tools, as there are limited tools available for their use.
Do you charge firing fees?
Clay and firing fees are included for all one-time, workshop, and 8-week students. Studio members have to option to bring and pay by the bag for firing or pay a higher membership to have studio clay/firing included.
Can I bring my own clay?
The studio provides cone 6 white stoneware. Students and members are allowed to bring in other cone 05/06 or cone 5/6 designated clays. They are required to pay a small firing fee per bag and label their bag according to studio requirements.
Can I pay cash?
We are a cashless business. We accept all major credit cards and checks in some cases.
What is your refund/cancellation policy?
We are unable to provide a general refund or reschedule for classes, private events, workshops, etc. once they are paid in full. Given minimal 5 days notice, we can sometimes accommodate a refund if someone else is able to take your spot. We are unable to provide a refund if proper notice isn’t given or we can’t find your replacement. There are no refunds or transfers once your class/event starts.
